FAQs

how much do we charge?

Many psychologists and psychiatrists do not state this on their website but we try to be transparent.

The default for a psychiatrist 60-minute appointment is a competitive $495 and for a psychologist is $195.

There is variation in individual charges based on what is requested with 30 minute follow-up appointments with a psychiatrist costing less for example.
We also accept referrals from other sources which may attract funding (such as some GP practices, insurers and NGOs etc)

what are acc sensitive claims?

Sensitive claims are for mental or physical injuries caused by some criminal acts, for example, injuries caused by sexual violence. Where mental health is compromised secondary to these acts, this is covered by ACC.

We also accept ACC referrals for psychological consequences of physical injury not related to criminal acts.

do we give a percentage of our profits to charity?

We are part of “Onepercentfortheplanet.org” which is a vetted organisation that independently verifies that a percentage of all our profit goes to local environmentally focused charities in the Waikato.

From time-to-time, we also donate to other humanitarian, mental-wellbeing and educational charities

what is emdr?

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a mental health treatment technique that involves eye movements and other stimulation to help people heal from trauma and other distressing experiences. EMDR does not use talk therapy or medication.

EMDR involves:

  • Recalling a stressful past event

  • “Reprogramming” the memory in the light of a new, positive belief

  • Using rapid eye movements to facilitate the process

  • Decreasing the power of emotionally charged memories of past traumatic events

are you involved in research?

EleMental Health is trying to refocus mental-wellbeing on nature and as such we do produce anonymized data on how we are achieving that and what we are trying to demonstrate in the wider literature. We will always ask you if your data is to be used in such scientific research and you are not at all obligated to agree to this (with no compromise to your treatment).

is this a frequently asked question?

Well at the moment, no. But if we get asked a question a lot, this is where it will go to maintain the symmetry of the page. Here’s a question for you: Did you know there is so much symmetry in nature? Check it out here… cool eh
